Wind turbine gearbox arrangement

- Mar 07, 2021-

The most common arrangement of the shaft system of a wind turbine is that the large shaft connected to the wind wheel is supported on two separate bearings, and its end is connected to the gear box through a tension sleeve . The bracket of the gearbox is installed on the chassis of the nacelle, and the high-speed shaft of the gearbox is connected to the generator by a flexible coupling . This is the so-called " one-line " layout. The abnormal load of the wind wheel is usually borne by the two large shaft bearings, the gearbox is less affected, and the major components are separated from each other for easy installation and maintenance, but the axial dimension of the nacelle is longer.
